As I sat in the pilot’s seat, the tug below pushed my plane backwards a few hundred feet. The tug driver called for me to reset my parking brakes as he disengaged from the plane. Then my co–pilot tuned into the taxi controllers’ frequency and I called for instructions to taxi for takeoff. The controller expertly guided my plane down the taxiway and we stopped short of runway 22.

A British Airways heavy was on approach and we politely waited until she had touched down. The Tower then gave us clearance to takeoff on runway 22. We guided the plane onto the runway and lined up on the centerline. We spooled up the engines to 100% and began rolling down the runway. After we rotated off of the runway, we turned to heading 110 and began our flight plan that would take us safely out of Chicago O’Hare’s airspace.

This is the type of realism that has now been brought into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 when you add on Wilco Publishing’s excellent add on, Airport 2000 volume 2. Not only are there several new planes added to MS Flight Sim 2000, but there are several new airports as well, each one with fully–functioning ground objects that include jetways, airport traffic, and even departure and arrival boards inside the terminal.

I was quite impressed with the amount of detail added to each of the airports that comes with Airport 2000 volume 2. I was even more impressed with the functioning Air Traffic Controllers and the excellent lighting at night. The cockpits off the planes included with Airport 2000 are as good, if not better, than the cockpits that ship with Flight Sim 2000. Each cockpit is fully functional and all buttons are clickable with the mouse.

With real world procedures, real world traffic, and highly realistic airports, Airport 2000 volume 2 definitely adds to your Flight Sim 2000. The Air Traffic Controller alone makes the purchase of this add–on worth the expenditure. You will definitely be pleased with the total game immersion when you actually start your flight on the taxiway of any of the included new airports. Fasten your seatbelts, check for fair weather, and fly these extremely friendly skies.

Overall Game Rating: A
